Welcome!

We are the East Texas Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA). An estimated 1.5 million Americans have Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's Disease is a slowly progressive brain disorder resulting in the loss of dopamine production. Dopamine is the neuro-transmitter responsible for aiding in body movements. Symptoms include slowness of movement, tremor, muscle stiffness, and postural instability. To date there is no cure.

The purpose of our website is to offer PD patients, caregivers, family and friends in East Texas a place to get the latest on research, clinical trials, programs, events, educational seminars, support groups, fundraising activities and other valuable information.
